Police arrested three suspects in the case of the cell phone muggers
A man was arrested on Sunday afternoon for the manslaughter of a boy at the Crestridge Apartments in Lake Highlands.
Police arrived at about 3:20 p.m. in response to a shooting at 6417 Ridgecrest Rd. A 16-year-old boy was found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound in his chest, police said.
The Homicide Unit found the suspect to be Alexandre Orozco Garcia, an 18-year-old man. He attempted to unload a gun when it discharged and hit the victim, killing him, according to police.
The boy was taken to a hospital where he died from his injury.
Garcia has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
