Staycation, the concept of former Joule Hotel food and beverage manager Nicole Leia Gregory, opened on Nov. 22. The house the cafe is inside of was built in the 40s, and the designers kept some that home charm.

Though it currently focuses on coffee and morning bites, Gregory doesn’t want to call Staycation a coffee shop.

“I’ve been trying not to label it specifically as a coffee place,” Gregory told Culture Map. “We’ll offer a couple sandwiches plus beer and wine in the evening. I always loved the idea of a concept that could transition from coffee to wine and beer.”

The menu items include coffee, tea, espresso, pastries and granola. Tweed, and occasionally Victorola in Seattle, supplies the coffee beans.

Afternoon bites, like sandwiches, brownies and oatmeal cookies will be available soon.

Staycation is located at 221 S Texas St. Store hours are 7 a.m.- 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday.
