Lake Highlands High School earned the bi-district football championship Friday night – their second in three years. The Wildcats defeated South Grand Prairie 29-24 and will go on to play Allen at 7 p.m. at Globe Life Field Friday night.
By any measure, Allen is a powerhouse. It’s the largest school in Texas with 6,959 students, meaning the Eagles have 2.5 times as many kids as LHHS trying out for every spot from quarterback to drill team captain to tuba player. Last year, Allen beat South Grand Prairie in the area playoffs before losing to Euless Trinity.
The Wildcats are ready.
Linebacker Drew Dubuclet was on fire Friday night, with 12 tackles and one forced fumble. Running back Noelle Whitehead rushed for 142 yards, and quarterback Caden Dotson threw touchdowns to Shamar Donaldson and Deonte Dean. Shallum Peter made both extra points and all five of his field goal attempts. You may vote for him for SportsDay’s High School Hero here.
