Justin Hamilton has been running with the cool kids again. The Lake Highlands High School grad served as director of photography for Finneas’ new music video, “The 90s,” which premiered Sept. 2.
Hamilton’s concert film for Olivia Rodrigo, “Sour Prom,” was released in June. He shot previous projects for Paris Jackson, Margo Price and Sharon Van Etten & Angel Olsen, among others recording artists, and filmed ads for Nokona, Aveeno and Nike. His short films and documentaries have been shown at SXSW and other film and music festivals.
Finneas is a Grammy Award-winning record producer, singer-songwriter, audio engineer and actor. He has written and produced music for various artists, including his sister, Billie Eilish. He has earned ASCAP’s Vanguard Award, Apple Music’s Songwriter of the Year, iHeart Radio’s Producer of the Year and 8 Grammys.
“Finneas is most widely known for his work with his megastar sister Billie Eilish, but for five years now he’s been releasing his own solo music on the side,” wrote Margaret Farrell of Flood Magazine. “’The 90s’ focuses on a time when we weren’t logged on 24/7, when the internet was a rare household item. Over a heart-pulsing bass, Finneas sings about all the time that gets rotted away online with obsessive worry.”
Finneas is currently touring across the country and will play at the Austin City Limits Music Festival Oct. 1 and 8. His debut album, The Optimist, is set for release October 15. Hamilton’s next project, a feature film called The Alleys, is coming soon.
