
LA Fitness parking lot
Update Sept. 8 at 3:20 p.m.: Police have identified the victim as 40-year-old Antonio Royal. No arrests have been made.
LA Fitness is closed today after a man was fatally shot in the parking lot. Witnesses said a group of men had been arguing in the gym before the shooting began.
At about 11 a.m., Dallas police were called to the area between LA Fitness and the vacant Picasso’s Pizza at Skillman and Walnut Hill. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The shooter has not been arrested at this time.
Witnesses in the gym said they saw men arguing, and neighbors outside reported hearing at least four rapid fire gunshots.
A sign at LA Fitness says the gym will reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
