An arrest has been made in the shooting of a pregnant woman who was caught in the crossfire of a shootout May 30 on Forest Lane.

Zachary Leffall, a 31-year-old Black male, was identified as the person of interest in the shooting and was arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault. Leffall confessed to his involvement in the shooting after being taken to Dallas Police Headquarters and has been placed in jail.

His bond is still to be determined, according to the most recent update from the Dallas Police Department.

The female, 8 months pregnant at the time, was leaving church and walking through the parking lot. She was hit by the crossfire of a shootout between a group at 9759 Forest Lane.

Police responded to the shooting and the woman was rushed to the hospital. The baby was born and the mother and child were reported in stable condition.

Detectives canvassed nearby locations and obtained videos of individuals in the area before obtaining a warrant for the shooting. On June 22, an off-duty Dallas police officer recognized Leffall and notified on-duty officers, who arrested Leffall.
