Foster teaches world history and African American studies in Dallas ISD and is a doctoral candidate at the Trinity School for Ministry in Pittsburgh. She doesn’t have children, but she attended RISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.

“I strongly desire that the excellent education I received from this district continues,” Foster says.

Foster believes her time spent on the front lines in DISD schools prepares her to make the tough decisions needed for almost 40,000 students in the district.

“I am qualified for this position due to my teaching experience of over a decade in one of the largest school districts in the country. My experience in developing recruitment strategies and district-wide curriculum for Dallas ISD will help serve the educational needs of students in Richardson ISD.

“I believe that it is in RISD’s best interest to build upon the diversity of the Lake Highlands attendance area: a varied student demographic that fosters a sense of community within the metroplex. My desire is to see RISD’s hiring practices and curriculum match the essence of the community of Lake Highlands in order to better serve the entire district.”

Also in the at large race are Chris Poteet, Amanda Clair, Nicholas LaGrassa, Gavin Haynes, Blake Sawyer and Eric Stengel. Election Day is May 1.
