Literacy Achieves helps non-English speaking families with English literacy

Literacy Achieves is working today to help Vickery Meadow residents still without water after the snowstorm. As some apartment managers warn it could take all week to get water service restored, the nonprofit is seeking volunteers and donations to keep families safe this week.

Bottled water may be dropped off at the Literacy Achieves site, 6329 Ridgecrest Road, along with bottles for holding water, individually packaged snack items, diapers, wipes, baby formula and/or new or gently used blankets and coats of all sizes. Donations will be received Monday/today 11:30-3 and this Thursday 1-4. Distribution will take place this Monday 4-6, Tuesday 1-3 and Friday 10-noon.

If you’d like to roll your sleeves up and volunteer, find a shift on this Sign Up Genius.

You can also donate cash online here.

Literacy Achieves works to equip non-English speaking adults and their young children with English literacy and life skills to promote self-sufficiency and the overall well-being.
