Dallas police have been training community crime fighters to patrol their neighborhoods for years through the Volunteers in Patrol program. Now, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department is calling all park and trail lovers to join the action.

The park department is partnering with the police department to extend the VIP program to parks and trails. The program is designed to reduce crime by training citizens to patrol their parks and trails, recognize suspicious activity and report criminals to police.
