A new product line on the shelves of Yoga Art Music in Lake Highlands is working to “demystify” the hemp-CBD industry, according to the yoga studio owner.

Y.A.M. owner Jen Johnson launched Growing Tree CBD, a line of hemp-derived CBD oils, lotions and gel capsules, around the same time her yoga studio opened in Lakeridge Village. After over a year of selling online, the products were introduced into the studio this summer and shelves were filled this month.

“There’s some good synergies with yoga,” Johnson said. “I didn’t see many companies tying those together.”

Customers have said Growing Tree CBD’s THC free, hemp-based products have offered pain relief, better sleep and have helped with remaining calm. Popular products include the Everyday Om Lemongrass Lotion, Savasana Menthol Muscle Rub and Namaste People CBD Drops.

“So far, everyone that has used it has come back and bought more,” Johnson said.

Each product is tested in a third-party lab to ensure the labeled amount of CBD is accurate, she said. Growing Tree CBD’s supplier is Kentucky-based GenCanna.

Similar to the objective of Y.A.M., Johnson said Growing Tree CBD aims to deliver peace into the neighborhood and community.

“Anything to just take everyone down a notch and put a smile on, that whole philosophy, I think ties in well with Growing Tree,” she said.

The two businesses are “labors of love” for Johnson, who also works full-time in corporate finance. She hopes Growing Tree CBD’s products can keep the yoga studio afloat while navigating financial struggles due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s helping support our yoga studio,” she said. “As you can imagine, we’re not making ends meet. I can’t think of any yoga studio that’s been able to make ends meet over the past nine months.
