One year after an EF-3 tornado churned a path of destruction through North Dallas, The Home Depot on Forest Lane officially reopened to customers early this morning.

Store officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday, with State Rep. John Turner and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Adam McGough holding either end of an orange-painted board for the home improvement retailer. An American flag, tattered and torn from the 140 mile-per-hour winds of Oct. 20, 2019, was hoisted again to symbolize the chain’s dedication to rebuilding the store and restoring hundreds of jobs.

At the dedication ceremony, store manager Jordan Jasper was praised for sending employees home early – and likely saving their lives. He’d seen weather reports on the television and closed the store 30 minutes before the tornado hit.

The store is at 11682 Forest Central Drive, and they’re open from 6 a.m. to 9 tonight.
