Rustin began his ten-year career in education as a student teacher at Lake Highlands Freshman Center. He went on to become an assistant principal at Richardson High and was named RISD’s 2019 Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year while serving at the Apollo STEAM Academy.

“I couldn’t be more excited to start my next chapter as principal of @LakeHighlandsJH,” tweeted Rustin yesterday, as he received congratulatory messages from teachers and parents all over the district. “Shout out to all the staff who welcomed me with open arms!!!”

Classes begin virtually for all RISD students Aug. 19, and in-person instruction starts Sept. 8.
