Today is National Nurse day! While we’ve seen the viral photos of nurses’ faces burned red from wearing PPE, emotionally and physically exhausted by the pandemic, today is a day to say “thank you” for all of their hard work.
Send treats
- Haute Sweets Patisserie is offering the option to donate $25 to $100 on treats for frontliners.
- You can also send Crumbl Cookies to the nurse you have in mind.
Buy a shirt
- Meatfight is selling T shirts and 100% of the proceeds go towards providing meals from local restaurants to frontline workers.
Sponsor a face mask
- Vickery Trading Co., a neighborhood fair trade fashion company, is offering a chance for you to donate a face mask to a healthcare professionals for $8. The materials are recycled and the women making the masks are refugees coming from different backgrounds.
Donate money for meals
- The Lake Highlands Public Improvement District and Imagine Dallas are teaming up with local restaurants to show appreciation by feeding workers at the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Fire-Rescue and Presbyterian Hospital. Donors are being sought to help pay for the meals. If you represent a local restaurant and you’d like to be part of the effort, click here to sign up for a date and select the group you’d like to feed. You may deliver meals to 45 firefighters on one shift, 50 police officers on another or 125 healthcare workers on another. You’ll be compensated at $8 per meal, and you’ll get a “We Support our LH Heroes” sign to display at your business. If you’d like to pay for meals, click here to make donation. The fundraising goal is $28,000 for 28 days of meals.
