Is it you? An anonymous donor donated food from Havana Cafe for three days in a row last week.

The food was sent to firefighters at station 31.

“Time for a payback to our first responders,” Owner Dora Benitez says. “We believe that taking care of first responders is important because they may be overwhelmed with work and this new way of living, and they aren’t thinking about their own wellbeing during this time, so we as a community should be taking care of them.”

Benitez also says these food donations mean so much because first responders are working longer hours than usual, covering for co-workers that are ill or taking care of their love ones.

In addition to the anonymous donor’s meals, Havana Cafe also sent food to the Dallas Police Department’s Northeast Division.

“Taking food to them is just a small gesture of gratitude for their service,” Benitez says. “The policeman we’re excited and grateful, when we delivered the food – with big smiles on their faces and thankful.”

Havana Cafe has plans to donate meals to local hospitals soon.
