Dallas gyms, studios and clubs are closed. Thanks to the digital age, many workout facilities have online streaming available. Here are a few in the neighborhood for those of you who want to support local businesses:
1. YMCA Online Classes
The YMCA is offering “Virtual Fitness With The Y” online. Y Members get free access to a library of Les Mills workouts to do in the comfort of your home. It includes 900 workouts and 13 formats, including classes for kids age 2 to 16. They also offer Virtual Personal Training with certified personal trainers including check ins, written workouts, consultations and virtual personal training sessions through facetime.
2. YAM TV
Local yoga studio, YAM Studio, is offering yoga streaming on their Youtube channel. Owner Jen Johnson was featured in our magazine in December. She was one of the original Dallas yogis and now runs Yoga Art Music Studio.
3. Shine Hot Pilates and Sculpt Studio
The news Shine Hot Pilates and Sculpt Studio is offering free classes through their Vimeo.The studio is accepting donations through Paypal: email@example.com or Venmo: @shine-hotpilates
4. Instagram workouts from neighbors
Local neighbor and mom Erin Dewitt runs an Instagram named @FitMomma08 where she posts at-home workouts. Along with these workouts for adults, she recently posted an at-home workout for kids which incorporated math problems.
5. Breakaway Boot Camp
Neighbor Carol Thomas is a certified person trainer who trains at Breakaway Sport + Fitness, she also runs Breakaway Boot Camp. She is offering free boot camp workouts via Zoom. Zoom is a video conferencing application which a lot of businesses have started utilizing. 6. Urban Grit Dallas Gym
Currently, Urban Grit Gym is offering 75% off online training. This offer includes four weeks of personalized training, weekly check ins, food guides and daily workouts.
7. Trainerize: Online training app with Positively Fit Lake Highlands
Voted Lake Highlands Chamber 2017 and 2018 Top Five Nominee for Best Small Business in Lake Highlands, Positively Fit Lake Highlands is a locally owned gym which is offering online training through the app Trainerize.
