When Justin Bono retires as Richardson ISD school board president in May, perhaps he can get a new gig as an actor. The 6-year veteran of the board of trustees stars Saturday in Avengers, a fundraiser for the Richardson Adult Literacy Center.
Billed a “murder mystery comedy play,” the show also features Evan Batt, owner of Lockwood Distilling Company, Shanna Sims-Bradish, Richardson’s assistant city manager and Cindy Shafer, CEO of the Network of Community Ministries. Bono plays a character called, appropriately, King RISD.
Bono has never acted before – not even in junior high plays or high school musicals back in the day – but he’s had plenty of experience watching quality productions. Over his many years supporting students all over the district, he’s seen his share of choir concerts, drill team revues, country and western dance offs and plays on stage.
RALC’s Murder Mystery is an interactive event where attendees work in teams to solve the “crime” presented by community leaders and professional actors. Tickets may be purchased online here for $60 each and include food, desserts, beer, wine and soft drinks. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Richardson Public Library, 900 Civic Center Drive.
