Lake Highlands neighbors are cleaning up this morning after Sunday night’s confirmed tornado which downed trees, destroyed fences and pulled down power lines. Thousands remain without electricity today, and traffic is snarled as commuters dodge debris in roadways and navigate intersections without traffic lights.

No one was reported hurt during the storm.

The area around Forest Lane and Royal Lane between 75 and Greenville Avenue was especially hard hit. The roof of the Home Depot on Forest is completely gone, as is the roof above the library and front offices at Dallas Lutheran School. Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church near Hamilton Park also had extensive roof damage above its sanctuary.

Richardson ISD schools are closed as district officials assess the damage.

DART rail had damage at the Forest Lane station, and several lines are in need of repair and experiencing delays. In some cases, buses will be used to bypass certain stations.

If you have trees blocking roadways or nonoperational traffic lights, you may report them to the City of Dallas by calling 311. Power outages, downed power lines and street light outages may be reported to Oncor online here.
