Dallas Lutheran tornado damage
After Sunday night’s tornado in Dallas, photos of devastating damage at the Forest Lane Home Depot became emblematic of the storm’s destructive power. Less than a mile away, students, parents and teachers at Dallas Lutheran School are working to clean up and repair their campus from similar destruction.
Over the front building, which houses the library and front offices, the roof was ripped off and chunks were thrown against other structures. In the back, more buildings sustained damage to roofing, rafters, bricks, windows and siding. After the tornado passed, rain soaked books, carpeting, computers and other items inside.
The school has set up a GoFundMe site to receive contributions for extensive repairs.
“We’re asking for any and all donations to help defray the costs of clean-up and renovating our sweet school,” says the website. “No donation is too small, and all monies combined will make a big difference to help us on our journey back to being better than ever.”
