Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

School is back in earnest, but if you think kids shouldn’t be the only ones having fun reading and discussing great books, join us for Bistro Book Club in October. We’ll talk about Gail Honeyman’s bestselling novel “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.”

Eleanor, a socially-awkward 29-year-old with suppressed memories of a brutal childhood, undertakes a journey to open her life and heart to others. The novel handles themes of alienation, loneliness and kindness with empathy and humor.

Reese Witherspoon, who chose the book in 2017 as the inaugural selection for her Hello Sunshine Book Club, is teaming up with MGM to produce the movie version.

Bistro Book Club will meet Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. on the patio at RM 12:20 Bistro in Lakeridge Village, with drink specials for the occasion. The group is the brainchild of Bistro founder/owner/chef Erin Willis, and Carol Toler (that’s me) leads the discussion. Participation is free and open to the public, and reservations are requested online here. Bring a friend, invite your entire book club or come alone to meet your neighbors!
