Wallace Elementary’s Erica Hoyt has been named Richardson ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone presented the award to Hoyt in a surprise visit to Wallace on Friday.

Hoyt, who teaches third grade at Wallace, attended RISD schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Texas Tech and a master’s degree in Literacy and Language from UT-Arlington. She was chosen as one of the district’s STAR teachers in May, which put her in the running for top teacher in the district for K-6. She’s now eligible to win honors at the Region 10 level.
