Lake Highlands alum and pro golfer Blaine Hale, Jr. will compete in the sectional qualifying round of the U.S. Open Championship.
The former Wildcat, who went on to play golf at The University of Oklahoma, tied for low round with a 70, SportsDay reported. He will be one of 500 players to advance to the next round.
The sectional qualifying round will take place May 20 at Bent Tree Country Club and Northwood Club, both in Far North Dallas. Sectionals will be hosted around the country along with Japan and England.
The U.S. Open is scheduled to take place June 13 through 16.
