Days before graduation, she reflected on her time at Lake Highlands. Hurt, along with her classmates, will graduate at 4:30 p.m. June 2 at Lake Highlands High.

What is your fondest memory of Lake Highlands High?

I really enjoyed my time on the swim team, just going to all the meets and finding my family there. I was on varsity all four years. I swam the 50 and 100 meter freestyles. I came from a private school to Lake Highlands and didn’t know anyone there. Swimming was my first class and everyone was so welcoming. I just found a group of people I fit in with.

What will you miss the most about high school?

Being in this community that supports the high school. It’s so special. There’s something really special about going to an event and seeing everyone’s family there.

What do you plan to study at Notre Dame?

I’m really going in completely undecided.

Why did you pick the university?

I felt like it fits and it’s been my dream school for a really long time. It checks all my boxes with academics, a lively student culture and the religious aspect.

How do you think you’ll be feeling on graduation day?

I’ll be really excited. I am really excited. I’ll definitely feel a little bit sad to be leaving here.

How do you plan to celebrate?

I’m leaving for Europe in about four days after graduation. I’m going to Italy and Greece with the swim team.
