The LH Family Aquatic Center boasts a 20-foot slide tower.
The days are long now that kids aren’t in school, but soon Lake Highlands parents will have a magical cure for that mystifying adage they begin hearing about Day 3 of the Long Hot Summer: I’m bored.
The Lake Highlands North Aquatic Center officially opens Saturday, June 1 at noon, but you can get your first glimpse of the shiny new facility at a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. this Friday. The pool replaces the outdated pool at the rec center, originally called Skyline pool.
The center will be open Mon-Wed 12-7 p.m. and Fri-Sun 12-8 p.m. (closed Thursday). Features include a gentle entry children’s area and a 20-foot slide tower with two body slides. There’s a six-lane lap pool with diving board, a climbing wall, a shaded lounge area and concession stand.
Daily admission is $4 for kids 11 and under or $6 for folks 12 and older. Season passes are $50.

Ribbon cutting at the Aquatic Center will be Friday.
