Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some of our suggestions:
May 30: Bowling for Camp
Show your support for local kids looking to go to camp this summer by sponsoring a bowler at Feed Lake Highlands’ third annual Bowling for Camp event. A $100 donation provides food for one of the 80 camp counselors during their stay in Lake Highlands. A donation of $300 fully sponsors one of the 82 campers from the area.
The event runs from 3 to 5 p.m. at 10061 Whitehurst Drive.
May 31: Movies at the Park: Bumblebee
Enjoy a movie outside at the Shops at Park Lane this weekend. The shopping center will be streaming the latest in the Transformers franchise: Bumblebee at 8 p.m. RSVP for the event on Facebook or Eventbrite.
June 1: Go for a swim!
The long-awaited Lake Highlands North Aquatic Center, at 9400 Church Road, will be open to the public starting June 1. Hours have not been announced yet.
June 1: Mayor’s Summer Reading Kick Off Party
Celebrate the beginning of summer break at the Audelia Road library branch with games, crafts, face painting, and a balloon artist. Attendees can also sign up for the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge at the event from 2 to 4 p.m. at 10045 Audelia Road.
June 2: Sundays at The Park
Listen to a variety of covers of artists such as Justing Timberlake, the Rolling Stones and more as Remedy – Prescription Strength Entertainment performs at the Lake Highlands Town Center’s amphitheater. The free concert runs from 5 to 7 p.m.
