Media veteran Brett Shipp will serve as keynote speaker at the LH Chamber awards luncheon May 14.
The Lake Highlands Chamber of Commerce released its “We Love LH” Award nominees Wednesday, singling out 25 nonprofits, businesses and individuals worthy of recognition.
Winners will be announced at the chamber’s annual awards luncheon May 14 at Royal Oaks Country Club, with media veteran Brett Shipp acting as keynote speaker. Shipp has earned three Peabody Awards, two Columbia DuPont Silver Batons and one Gold Baton, and he’s won multiple Edward R. Murrow Awards, Emmys and other honors.
Small Business of the Year nominees are Artistik Edge Hair Salon, My Office, Resident Taqueria, Rooster Home and Hardware, and The Store in Lake Highlands.
Business of the Year nominees are Alamo Drafthouse, Artistik Edge Hair Salon, Rooster Hardware, Scott Exteriors, and Sprouts Farmers Market.
New Business of the Year nominees are Alamo Drafthouse, Dallas Academy of Martial Arts, My Office, RM 12:20 Bistro, and Shop Companies-Buck Wheeler.
Nonprofit of the Year nominees are 100 Women of Lake Highlands, Clickit4life.net, East Lake Pet Orphanage, Feed Lake Highlands, and Kids-U.
Restaurant of the Year nominees are Cedar & Vine, Fish City Grill, Mi Cocina, Resident Taqueria, and RM 12:20 Bistro.
Legacy Award nominees are Councilman Adam McGough, former council member Bill Blaydes, community volunteers Katy and Greg Jensen, education activist Lynn Davenport, and Reverend Pam Clark.
Last year’s winners were Artistik Edge (Small Business of the Year), Rooster Home and Hardware (Business of the Year), Exchange Club of the Year and Feed Lake Highlands (tied for Nonprofit of the Year), JJ’s Café (Restaurant of the Year) and Lake Highlands Advocate’s Rick Wamre (Legacy Award).
Tickets for the luncheon are $40 and may be purchased online here. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and the lunch starts at noon.
