Sunday’s event, themed “Peepin’ La Vida Loca,” will include an urban chicken coop tour through North Dallas, an urban market, chicken yoga, educational presentations and a raffle. Proceeds benefit the Moss Haven Farm used by the 500 students at Moss Haven Elementary School to learn how to care for chickens and coops and learn from a master gardener.

At 11:30 a.m., attendees can partake in a new exercise trend: chicken yoga.

“With the popularity of Goat Yoga, and other forms of animal yoga, there is a new kind of yoga in town with another farm animal,” spokesperson Suzanne Flodin wrote in an email.

An instructor from Deep Ellum Yoga will lead the class, which is free. Unlike other animal-infused yoga classes, the chickens won’t be wandering around freely, but will instead be in a mobile chicken coop that will be in the middle of the class.

“It is a relaxing and inspiring combination of beautiful scenery, fresh air and fluffy animals,” Flodin wrote.

Seven chicken coops, including Moss Haven Farm’s coop, will be part of the self-guided coop tour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Coops on the tour include a solar-powered one, different sized flocks with various breeds represented, a child-friendly coop the whole family can get involved with and a home that has a chicken coop in the side yard and an edible garden in the backyard.

Moss Haven Farm will also host an urban market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 9202 Moss Farm Lane with crafts, jewelry, entertainment and food from Steel City Pops, Gepetto’s Pizza, Scot’s Cafe, Kona Ice and more.

Tickets for A Peep at the Coops are $15 for attendees 13 years old or older. Children 12 years old and younger are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.apeepatthecoops.org or at Moss Haven Farm.
