A 26-year-old woman was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals after her apartment manager found two malnourished dogs covered in fleas and feces in her apartment.
Corinne Elaine O’Hara, who lives on Meadow Road, was arrested Friday, according to the Dallas Morning News. She agreed to surrender the two dogs, an 11-pound terrier mix named Kinzler and a 23-pound German shepherd mix named Dakota.
“Initial examinations by medical staff revealed both dogs had been covered in urine and feces for so long that sores had developed, and both had a body condition score (BCS) of 1/9,” the SPCA of Texas wrote in a Facebook post. “For reference, a BCS of 4-5/9 is considered ideal using the Purina Body Scoring System. The SPCA of Texas will continue caring for the dogs until they are healthy enough for adoption.”
