Jordan Brooks (left, next to Craig Melvin) with Today Show cast

Lake Highlands High 2010 grad Jordan Brooks will appear on Friday’s morning’s Today Show with the cast of Stomp, the long-running off-Broadway show still selling out the Orpheum Theatre. Jordan and the rest of the Stomp group will teach Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones how to practice the “stomp” percussive dance using brooms and other “street” instruments.

This I gotta see.

Brooks, a graduate of the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston and NYU’s master’s program, first earned a spot in the Stomp cast in 2016 but later took a hiatus to focus on his own music. He was chosen for Friday’s “behind the scenes” special to give a “live in the studio” performance and tutorial to Craig, Dylan, Al and Sheinelle.

When he’s not at 30 Rock, Jordan is busy with a variety of musical projects. He wrote the music, played drums and directed the music in a rock production of Julius Caesar by Hamlet Isn’t Dead in New York, and he’s been releasing music and performing with Johnny Murrell. You can hear their newest song, “Finally the Rain,” here.
