If you weren’t impressed with St. Vincent before, maybe two Grammy nominations will change your mind.

The Lake Highlands native’s latest album “MASSEDUCTION” is nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, and she’s competing against the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Beck for the award. The title track also was nominated for Best Rock Song.

“It’s bright melancholy and it’s a lot of sorrow, but sorrow you can jam to,” she told NPR.

The Grammys are unpredictable at best, but history seems to favor the rock heroine. In 2015, her self-titled album received the award for best alternative music album. (Not to mention she was the first solo female artist to win in more than two decades.)
