Wildcat receiver Jono Barrows to host Cleats With a Cause youth clinic

Coach Lonnie Jordan calls Jono Barrows (upper right corner) “Surfer Boy.” He’ll be teacher to your kids when they sign up for Cleats With a Cause.

Coach Lonnie Jordan calls him “Surfer Boy,” but Lake Highlands High School star receiver Jonathan Barrows can be teacher to your kids when they sign up for his football and soccer clinic Saturday, December 8. Cleats for a Clause, with coaching and mentoring by winning athletes from all 4 Richardson ISD high schools, will raise funds for the RISD Clothes Closet to buy athletic shoes and gear for needy students in our district.

Jono and his friends set up the skills training workshop via Skratch, the teen work app designed to help young people find work in today’s “gig” economy. The app helps teens earn extra money or organize projects as they match their skill set with needs in the community.

Cleats With a Cause is for students aged 7-12 and will be held indoors at Soccer Spectrum from 8-10 a.m. A release form can be found here and brought to the clinic, and donations will be accepted.
