Lake Highlands High School graduate Braxton Brock was a genius when it came to mechanics. He opted not to attend college and instead worked 50-something hours per week. He shared a room with his brother Colt Brock, and he loved motorcycles.
Brock was riding a motorcycle one night in August 2017 when a white pickup truck struck and killed the 21-year-old. Police never discovered who was behind the hit-and-run.
His family, although grief-stricken, found comfort knowing his organs were used to save about six people and benefitted 75 others, too. “He officially died the day following the accident, Friday, and we already had the ball rolling and everything,” Colt told the Advocate.
Thanks to Brock, Matthew Ware has a new heart. Ware was 25 years old when he “started feeling really ill,” he told CW33, and eventually realized his “heart was starting to fail.”
Ware and the Brock family recently met for the first time, and you can watch the emotional get-together here. “It feels like a family that I’ve known forever,” Ware said. “Braxton, he’s here. I take him everywhere I go.”
