City officials have allocated $3.6 billion to improve Dallas. Now it’s your turn to provide feedback on the annual budget.
City Councilman Adam McGough is hosting two town hall meetings where neighbors can ask questions, make suggestions and provide feedback on the 2017-2018 fiscal year budget.
The meetings are slated:
- Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Lake Highlands Recreation Center
- Thursday, Aug. 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center
Attending a meeting at the end of a busy day may not be enticing. But about 28.3 percent of your property taxes are paid to the City of Dallas, which plans to spend about $805.3 million on public safety, $145.6 million on infrastructure and $20 million on social needs, including $2.3 million on reducing homelessness.
Speak now or forever hold your peace, basically.
