Accolades are nothing new for Lake Highlands High School junior and champion shooter Allyn Willis; she’s even earned awards at nationals, but one title has eluded her – High All Around Ladies Champion.
Until now.
Allyn competed at the USAYESS National Championships in San Antonio the last week of June, winning individual and team national titles. The best part, she hints, may be seeing her father, Tim’s, reaction.
“I couldn’t be happier with the way I performed,” said Allyn. “It feels pretty awesome having that title under my name, and I know for sure I made my dad proud.”
Allyn became interested in the sport as an eighth-grader and surprised many, earning seven national awards that year.
But don’t expect to see Allyn lying by the pool or sleeping in this summer.
“Next up is the tournament at Oklahoma State in two weeks,” Willis told me. “Until then I’m practicing like crazy so I can perform well.”
