Wildcats to play in Cotton Bowl Showcase

Wildcat football

Lake Highlands High will play in September’s 3rd Annual Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase with seven other top 6-A football programs, including some of the area’s top recruits. Representatives from premier college programs are expected to attend, and some of the state’s top players will be showcased, including TCU commit Donavann Collins of Cedar Hill, Oklahoma State commit Xavier Ross, also of Cedar Hill, and Notre Dame commit Hunter Spears of Sachse.

On Friday, Sept. 7, Mansfield Lake Ridge will face Waco Midway at 5 p.m., and Cedar Hill will play Denton Guyer at 8:30. The Wildcats play Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m., while Sachse faces Euless Trinity at 1:30.

Lake Highlands had seven players sign on to play college ball last year, and teams including Syracuse, University of Iowa, Colorado State and Florida Atlantic have visited team practices in recent months. Wildcat quarterback Jakson Thomson, a rising senior, has received offers from Syracuse, Akron and New Mexico State, among other schools.

Tickets for the Cotton Bowl Showcase will be available for purchase at LHHS when school gets cranking again ($6 for students, $8 for adults) or can be bought at the Cotton Bowl on game day for $10.
