Scofield Church plans its Fall Festival on Saturday from 3-6:30 p.m. There will be worship, food and activities.
Documentary producer and lecturer Kate Winkler Dawson will be joined by Michael Merschel of the Dallas Morning News for a conversation about Dawson’s true crime book, “Death in the Air: The True Story of Serial Killer, the Great London Smog, and the Strangling of a City.” The conversation will be at Half-Price Books on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Dawson will also sign books, which will be available to purchase.
Dallas Police plan a Kids Health and Safety Fair for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Highlands High School. The theme will be “Honoring Our Veterans,” and the highlights include a veterans job fair, free flu shots, free coats for kids in need, free bike helmets, free turkeys for Thanksgiving, a car show, train ride and a chance to tour police helicopter.

The Angelika Film Center will be hosting the second annual Sheed Persian Film Festival this weekend. Many of these film will have their U.S. premiere during the festival, which is Friday through Sunday. Tickets for multiple shows range from $26-$78.
TreeHouse at The Hill shopping center, 9810 N. Central Expressway, will be collecting recyclables and donations this weekend, from e-waste to unwanted household items. Donation’s will be accepted 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Bowling for Bulldogs mixes fun and fundraising for the DFW Bulldog Rescue. Set for Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bowl & Barrel on Park Lane, a $35 donation gets you bowling, snacks and non-alcoholic drink.
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church will honor Veterans Day, along with All Souls Day, with the 19th annual All Souls Memorial Concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. There will be the traditional reading of the names.
