At 11 a.m., the Audelia Library will host a Halloween party with child-appropriate spooky stories and trick-or-treating. It’s best for young children.

The big event takes place from 5-7 p.m., when the Lake Highlands Public Improvement District plans its second-annual Trunk-or-Treat. Kids can walk from car to car, each decorated for the season, and collect candy while showing off their characters at the Tom Thumb parking lot (9090 Skillman). The event takes place rain or shine, so grab an umbrella since rain is predicted for this evening.

For the adults, here’s a few of the unnerving tales we’ve covered in the past, dusted off for the seasonal scare:

Elizabeth, the ghost who haunts the auditorium at Lake Highlands High School.

In our Historical Happenings feature, we highlighted some of the unusual murders and supernatural events, like the UFO sighting at White Rock Lake.

Then, of course, there’s the Lady of the Lake, including a slew of neighbor-made videos that brought the legend to life.
