Audelia Road Library

Schoolchildren aren’t the only ones learning a thing or two in September. The Audelia Road Library has scheduled a month full of programming for “kids” from 4 to 94. Best of all, all events are free and open to the public.

Teens and young adults considering their options for the future can participate in Career Exploration Series: Math Teacher at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6. They’ll learn the pros and cons of life as a math instructor.

If you are caring for an older loved one, you’re invited to hear Suzanne Asaff Blankenship, author of “How to Take Care of Old People Without Losing Your Marbles” at 2 p.m. on Sept. 9. She will share tips on becoming a more effective elder advocate.

Kristin Crane will teach a class on the history and use of essential oils, but registration is required for this one and may be done online here or by emailing audeliaroad@dallaslibrary.org.

Pregnant moms and their support crew are invited to a Birth Options Workshop Sept. 16 at 10 a.m., where a local doula from Project HAPPY will explain options for a safe and happy birth.

Students interested in STEAM – science, technology, engineering, art and math – will enjoy the Saturday STEAM program at 2 p.m. Sept. 23.

Have you been watching “Who Do You Think You Are?,” TLC’s program which reveals the ancestors of celebrities? You can learn to conduct your own genealogical research with a Genealogy Workshop Series which begins Sept. 26 at 1. The session days and times will vary to permit a variety of schedules.

Looking for a little Mommy and Me time? Stay and Play at 11 on Sept. 30 will provide toys and sensory bins for young children to play with and share.

Part two of the genealogy series continues Sept. 30 at 2 with Portable Genealogy, how to use your cell phone and tablet to use genealogy tools such as FamilySearch.org.

Again, all events are free, but you are invited to join Friends of the Dallas Public Library online here.
