Oak Highlands Brewery

Governing Richardson ISD’s school board is serious business, but learning about this year’s candidates will be a fun community event. Oak Highlands Brewery and Lake Highlands Advocate are cohosting a candidate forum March 29, and the entire neighborhood is invited.

Jan Stell, Rachel McGowan and Kile Brown are running for the District 5 seat formerly held by Karen Clardy, and all 3 will be participating at the forum. Some questions will invite extended answers, but during the “lightning round” all candidates will hold up red and green paddles to quickly indicate their yes and no answers.

Brad Mall and Derrin Williams, the Lake Highlands neighbors who founded OHB, say doors at the brewery will open at 5 p.m. and beer will be flowing. Moderator Carol Toler will introduce the candidates at 7. Admission is free.

Election Day is May 7 and early voting begins April 25. Oak Highlands Brewery is at 10484 Brockwood just east of 635.
