Now a University of Missouri Kansas City sophomore, Preston opened his track season by beating the school’s 600-meter race record by .76 seconds with a time of 1:11:53, earning him the Western Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week. He was among 12 candidates in the running for last week’s Western Athletic Conference overall Athlete of the Week.

During his freshman year he showed incredible promise, specializing in and running near-record times in the 400 meter event and on the 4X400 relay team as well as placing in the long-jump and high-jump field events.

This was Preston’s first award in college athletics, but will it be his last? Not likely.
