Lake Highlands-born-and-raised celebrity Granger Smith Friday took a traumatic tumble during a New Jersey concert, after which he was carried off by ambulance, taken to a nearby emergency room and admitted to a trauma center where doctors confirmed two broken ribs, as well as a punctured and partially collapsed lung. But he first finished his set.
According to a statement from his publicist, the rising country star and Lake Highlands High School graduate was standing on a monitor when it unexpectedly gave way, sending the singer-songwriter plummeting from the stage, where he crashed into a metal barricade.
Shocking though the fall was, Smith popped up, got back on stage and joked, ““It must have been a city boy that put that up there.”
According to this Taste of Country website, Smith canceled the remainder of his tour and is headed home soon to his Texas family.
The fact that @GrangerSmith got up to sing after 2 broken ribs and a punctured lung just proves he’s a country boy. Get well soon buddy! pic.twitter.com/PNCSFT2bOE
