Suspect Melvin “Dice” Louis Jackson

Update from Dallas Police Department: “Suspect Melvin Louis Jackson has been arrested for the Capital Murder offense that occurred on Ferris Branch and is currently in the Dallas County Jail.”

Dallas police are searching for Melvin Louis Jackson, 34, who they believe killed two men at an apartment community on West Ferris Branch Boulevard — that’s the Hidden Ridge Apartments near Whitehurst and I-635.

Officers responded to a shooting call there a little after 1 a.m. Sunday and found Gerlando Halstid, 39, dead from a gunshot wound. They learned a second victim, 42-year-old Brashaun Boyce had been taken to the hospital where he died, also from gunshot wounds.

Sunday afternoon, police issued a capital murder arrest warrant for Jackson, whose last known address is 8300 Skillman, a Lake Highlands apartment building near Royal Lane.

Jackson, a black man also known as “Dice,” according to the warrant, stands 6 foot 3 inches, weighs 290 pounds and has short black hair.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts should contact T. McDaniel, Dallas homicide detective, at 214.671.4236.
