Attention Lake Highlands High School seniors! Monday may have been the first day of school and your mind may already be on Senior Skip Days, but here’s some motivation to stay on track. Courtesy Nissan in Richardson has pledged to donate a brand new car to one lucky Richardson ISD senior who has perfect attendance during the entire 2016-17 school year.
Each qualifying senior will be entered into a drawing, says John McFaddin, Courtesy Nissan’s Business Development Manager, and a local celebrity will select the winner next May. The winning student drives away a Nissan Sentra SR in the color of their choice – tax, title and license all paid.
“Life is just about showing up, no matter what you do,” said McFaddin. “If you’re going to go to college, it starts with attendance. You take responsibility and you make a commitment. So that’s why I’m really excited about the car. It kind of makes sense – ‘driving attendance.’”
“We sponsored all four high schools’ tickets for football and basketball,” added McFaddin, who showed up at LHHS on Monday to display a Nissan and motivate students. “We also want to give back to all the booster clubs. If anybody will just identify themselves as being with Richardson schools when they purchase a new or used car, we’ll donate $100 in their name to any of the high school booster clubs they designate – band, drill team, sports, etc.”
“Richardson ISD is excited to team up with Courtesy Nissan to help promote strong attendance,” said RISD Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone, also on hand at LHHS Monday. “Academic success and the path to graduation begins with being in school, and we appreciate Courtesy Nissan’s commitment to our students and ongoing support of RISD.”
