Students greet veterans at a previous show
Lake Highlands Freshman Center choirs will present “Salute to America” tonight/Wednesday, their annual musical kickoff to the Memorial Day weekend.
The LH tradition was started by music teacher Lisa Cunningham back when the school opened in 1998 and is a great way for families to celebrate our country and our service men and women. Claire Daniels, LHHS graduate in 2008, returned this year to direct the freshman choirs.
The kids will sing patriotic standards such as Stars and Stripes, Over There, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, I’ll Be Seeing You, In Flanders Fields and God Bless America. The students have been encouraged to invite family and neighbors who are veterans (as are you), and those vets will be recognized for their service during A Tribute to the Armed Services.
Admission is free, and the show begins at 7 p.m. in the LHHS auditorium.
