Hotchkiss is a Dallas ISD school located north of White Rock Lake.

“The car, it was going at maximum speed, and the car crashed at the back of the bus and we were all surprised, but especially the people at the back, and the bus driver started freaking out, and we were all creeped out,” a fifth grader from the bus told a WFAA reporter whose video is posted on Facebook.

Mesquite police started pursuing the suspect vehicle about an hour earlier, at a motel in Mesquite where its drivers, yet unnamed, were accused of fraud.

Police wound up making three arrests — two men driving the red car that hit the bus and another woman who stayed behind at the hotel.

WFAA’s reporters say they filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Mesquite Police Department for a copy of their policy on police chases.
