Police have released disturbing video of the man who shot 28-year old DeAngelo Golphin at the 7-11 gas pumps last week in hopes that someone will come forward with information.

Just before midnight Feb. 11 customers mill around the well-lit parking lot at the 7-11 on Skillman near LBJ. A dark four-door sedan is parked, empty, aside the middle pump. A man dressed in dark clothing approaches the car, pausing a moment before opening the back passenger-side door, entering the vehicle and shutting himself inside. About 12 seconds later, the car’s driver, 28-year old DeAngelo Golphin, returns, enters the car and shuts his door. Within seconds, the back door flings open and the first man flees across the parking lot in the direction of the nearby LBJ/Skillman DART station.

Prohibited by the surveillance footage quality, one cannot see what happens during those seconds after Golphin reentered his vehicle, but we now know that the man in the back seat executed him, as we reported last week. Though it is difficult to discern from the footage, witnesses describe the suspect as “20-23 years old, 5-foot-6 inches to 5-foot-8 inches tall, with a curly afro that is shaved on the sides.”

Dallas police detectives on Friday released the video. They ask the public to help them find Golphin’s killer.

It happened last Thursday at the 7-11 near the Skillman-I-635 intersection. It was almost midnight when 28-year-old DeAngelo Golphin pumped his gas and went inside to pay. When he returned to his car, a murderer was in his backseat, according to a police report. Golphin climbed into the driver’s seat before the suspect shot him several times in the back. Witnesses described the suspect only as a Black male.

Paramedics transported Golphin to Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
