You’re in so much luck. The Lake Highlands High School Wildcat band’s second-annual Mattress Palooza fundraiser is Saturday. They’ll have 25 different bed options including pillow-top orthopedic, gel memory foam, adjustable beds and good ole regular firm. Featuring name brands such as Simmons and Beautyrest, they’ll also offer mattress protectors, luxury pillows and other extras. Last year, the fundraiser brought in $6,525. Skillman Southwestern Library‘s book club has selected a new biography about plastic surgeon Thomas Dent Mütter, who revolutionized modern surgery and founded the intriguing Mütter Museum in Philadelphia. Shawn Saumell, a visual artist born in New York who currently lives and works in Dallas, is hosting an exhibit at the Bath House Cultural Center. The show, “Post,” features a series of prints mounted on aluminum panels that depict colorful, yet desolated and otherworldly desertscapes. Through Feb. 13 is “Close Encounters of the Dirk Kind” at Pocket Sandwich Theater. Film Noir detective Dirk Spatula is called out of retirement to help find a space alien on the run. The Wrangler clinic is open to boys and girls in grades K-6 and will be held Monday, January 18th from 1-3:30 while the kids are out of school for MLK. Again, students should wear shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes (not boots). The cost is $30 and registration is online here.
