Lake Highlands High School alumni Chris Harrison — 20-year veteran of “The Bachelor,” author and emcee of ABC’s annual Miss America pageant — wasn’t watching when the cringeworthy events took place Sunday.

In case you swore off social media this week and missed it, here’s what happened — comedian Steve Harvey wrongfully announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez Arévalo as the victor of Miss Universe 2015. Then things worse than even the most embarrassing Michael Scott moments of The Office, but real, ensued. If you must, watch those things here.

We knew he wasn’t watching because Twitter said so. “Off the grid with the family tonight. What did I miss? What happened at Miss Universe? My feed blew up” Harrison tweets.

Even though he was busy today in Dallas at Children’s Medical Center, being awesome to sick kids, he took the time to comment on the incident.

“My first thought was, that’s every hosts worst nightmare. I broke into cold sweats just thinking about something like that happening,” Harrison says. “I feel for Steve — what an awful experience. I will say he handled it the best he could. From what I gather he owned up to his mistake and apologized.”

He adds, “You’re crazy if you don’t think this won’t be on my mind when I take the stage at the next Miss America pageant.”
