A family of six refugees from Syria arrived in Dallas today. Fifteen more Syrian refugees have arrived in Texas but will live in Houston.
Dallas’ Syrian family will live near the Forest and Abrams vicinity of our neighborhood. According to one report, they have family members already settled in the region. Several existing refugee families at the same apartment community say they will support and help the new family, who will undoubtedly face excess stress due to efforts by Texas government to block their entrance to our city, all according to a WFAA report.
So far the refugees we have met from the Middle East, as well as those interviewed for the above-linked WFAA story, fled to the United States after serving as interpreters and other positions assisting the American military.
Several more neighborhood residents and organizations also have expressed support for Syrian refugees, as we reported a couple of weeks ago. However, others (in the same report) voiced concerns.
