Details are still coming together, but the Dallas Police Department say an 18-year-old woman pulled from a creek near White Rock Lake was murdered.
Police were called the 11700 block of Dixfield Drive on report of a vehicle accident Monday morning after a white Honda Odysessy crashed into the water. Inside the vehicle, police found the victim dead from “homicidal violence,” according to a police press conference (which can be seen on Periscope, although the audio quality is poor).
While they have not publicly identified her, police say they know who the victim is, and that she was reported missing yesterday, Oct. 11, after she left home around 4:45 p.m. but failed to show up at a class at her church at 5 p.m. She was last seen driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey with Texas license plate BF62154, the same vehicle that police identified in the creek Monday morning.

On Sunday evening, multiple local social media pages carried the same post about a missing 18-year-old woman, who was reportedly last seen that evening driving a white van on her way to a church class. According to the posts, she was a White Rock YMCA employee who graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. This homicide is one of two murders reported in the White Rock Lake area in the past 24 hours, after a jogger was stabbed to death Monday morning. Police have not made any link between the two acts of violence reported today.
