“We are seeing it in other local retailers like Gecko Hardware and Brumley Gardens — it’s just tough to compete in this word of Amazon and Wal Mart,” note owners Tony Doles and David Farris in a farewell email.

The two Lake Highlands residents opened the boutique in 2008 at the southwest corner of Walnut Hill and Audelia. The inventory — wines and candies, whimsical glassware, smart stationary and capricious party supplies — consists of items you do not need but sure want. They opened a second store in East Dallas in 2010 and a third location in Preston Hollow in 2012.

Less than three months after opening the Preston Hollow shop, “unable to create enough traffic to make it sustainable,” it closed, followed by the closing of the Hillside Village store last year. At that time they promised to try to keep the Lake Highlands store open, then they attempted to sell, but just could not find the right buyer, they say.

“We really hoped in our heart of hearts that we would find a way to keep the dream alive, to keep T. Hee open as a part of the incredible Lake Highlands community. Unfortunately, it simply was not meant to be,” continues Farris via email. “The truth of the matter is that we were still doing OK business but not enough to warrant keeping the store open.”

Beginning now, until the end of August, shoppers enjoy 20 percent off everything.

Farris notes that new items will roll in throughout next week. Check the shop’s Facebook page regularly to keep tabs on new goods. “Load up now for the holidays,” Farris suggests. He adds that everything including fixtures, tables and supplies are up for grabs.

“We will cherish the memories of all the laughs and family transitions and wine tastings you have shared with us over the last few years,” he notes. “It has been an honor to be a part of your community, your family and your lives.”
